If you've been following this blog for a while, you probably know that I'm a big fan of regenerative agriculture. While I don't believe it's the solution to all the world's problems, I do think that it can go a long way towards solving some of the health and environmental issues we are facing today.
I do feel that we eat far too much meat here in America, so I'm not saying that simply switching your daily meat source to regeneratively-raised meat is the whole solution. However, I do believe that if we all reduced our meat consumption (say, to once per week), and we chose to eat ONLY regenerative meat when we do so, this could go a long way.
We’ve all heard the phrase “food is medicine” - but as Dr. Mark Hyman reminds us in this powerful podcast episode, it’s not just a catchy slogan. It’s a biological truth.
In this inspiring conversation, Dr. Hyman sits down with Autumn Smith, co-founder of PaleoValley and Wild Pastures, to talk about how food quality, farming practices, and soil health all play a crucial role in our personal well-being. After overcoming her own struggles with digestive and mental health, Autumn has dedicated her life to helping others access truly nutrient-dense, healing foods - the kind our bodies are designed to thrive on.
Together, they explore how regenerative farming can restore both the planet’s soil and our own health from the inside out. You’ll gain eye-opening insights on why how your food is raised matters just as much as what you eat - and how choosing regeneratively raised foods can actually deliver the same healing compounds found in plants.
- How to tell if your meat is truly regenerative
- What labels like “grass-fed,” “grass-finished,” and “regenerative” really mean
- Why soil health directly impacts your nutrient intake
- Simple ways to reduce inflammation through better fats
- Affordable steps to eat well and support the planet
Dr. Hyman and Autumn remind us that when we heal the soil, we heal ourselves—and that transformation begins with the choices we make every day, starting right on our plates.
